Is it a Drawing? Assignment
Inspired by children who's response to doing something naughty is to say, "You didn't say I COULDN'T do it," this assignment asked students to channel that same sassiness and push the definition of what "drawing" is.
Students were asked to make 25 drawings of a common item. Each one needed to be different and needed to challenge the drawing medium, drawing surface, or concept of drawing.
Concepts here include a person using a skateboard and a stick with a piece of chalk to draw, pieces of paper taped to the bottom of the foot in order to allow the land to "draw" for him, a person who "drew" a hammer with a hammer, a negative drawing of an electric shaver, and a drawing of a fork in orange peel.
