Art History Projects
In this project, the student chose to recreate the jade burial suit of Prince Liu in materials that were the opposite of the symbology and precious materials (jade, gold wire, silk brocade) of the original.
Instead of cooling jade, he chose a warm jumpsuit. Instead of precious jade and gold wire, he used cardboard and hot glue. Prince Liu's suit was made to be concealed, seen only by the gods, and his is meant to stand out and represent life.
The student being who he is, he also added a little pizazz, and added Chinese symbols for elegance, refinement, and nobility in glow-in-the-dark paint.
